I'm Home!

Mommy and Daddy got to take me home today! I slept in the car the whole way. The doctor thinks that I had aspirated some of Mommy's colostrum, which is what caused my little infection. But I am all better now! How do you like the new pictures of me in my cute little green outfit? And can you tell who I look like?! Thats my Grandpa and Grandma Leckron. They sure are excited about me! Can you see Lillo the Leopard? My Daddy bought that for me!

My Name

Several of you have asked the meaning of my name. Well, Ivy is a symbol of Love, Friendship, and Fidelity. Some of you may remember that my mommy and daddy had lots of ivy at their wedding, so those ideals have always played an important role for them. Aurora means Dawn or Brilliantly Luminescent. My mommy's favorite time of day is morning. Also, the original Sleeping Beauty in the fairy tale is named Aurora, and that story was a childhood favorite of my mommy's. I think my name is pretty fitting, don't you?
My mommy picked out the name, and my daddy absolutely loves it. Of course, I think he calls me Little Pumpkin, or Princess more than anything. My mommy calls me Sweet Pea and Sugar Plum. I don't mind at all. :)
Mommy and Daddy pray that my name will prove to be true about me. They hope that I will be loving, a friend to everyone, and loyal and true, and that these characteristics will shine from me.

Ivy is doing great!

Ivy has made leaps and bounds in her health. The anitbiotics have seemed to stop the infection. Her breathing is perfectly calm, she is resting well and eating well, and her white blood cell count continues to go back down. The doctors need to keep her one more night for the antibitoics, and also because they are waiting for the blood culture to come back tomorrow morning. If all looks good with that, she will come home with us in the morning. We can't wait to get her home!
Lori is doing VERY well! She is up and around since yesterday mid-morning. She is not in very much pain at all. She is being discharged this morning, but we will stick around the hospital until 11 tonight in order for Lori to be able to feed Ivy. Then we will come back in the morning to pick her up!

More pictures!

I know you all are begging to see more pictures of me, so here you go! I am doing really good by the way. The nurses are going to let me go to the room with mommy and daddy so that I can eat tonight. Mommy is very excited about that!

Some good news!

Ivy's breathing has stabilized and they were able to just let her breath normally. Her blood tests came back, and her white blood cells are still high, but she is acting better and looking better. That, combined with her improved breathing, means that, so far, she doesn't have to go into neo-natal. They are going to give her antibiotics through a shot in her leg every 12 hours and that will hopefully take out any virus that she might have. If she is doing really well, she might be able to come into the room with us again for a little while tonight!
So keep praying! It is helping!
She wants you to know that she hopes to be back blogging very soon. ;)

By the way, early reports from Grandma and Grandpa Leckron are that she acts very much like Lori did when she was born. Ivy is already trying to push herself up and hold her head up! She is very strong. I have a feeling that she and mommy will have lots of good times working out together. :)

Please be praying

Ivy is doing really good. She started breathing kind of hard very early this morning, so she had to go to the nursery for oxygen. They did a couple blood tests so far this morning, and her white blood cell count is kinda high, so they are keeping an eye on her. It may be an infection. They will do another blood test at noon, and if nothing has changed, she may have to go into neo-natal. This is hard not having her in the room with us! We can visit her all we want in the nursery, but Lori gets tired, so we can't stay for too long. It is SO hard not to be able to hold her!
Everything should be fine, but there is a little bit of unknown, so its a little tough. Lori is handling it better than I, but thats usual. :)
Lori did an amazing job last night giving birth to our little princess! She made it through with only a local pain killer! I am so proud of her.
Hopefully I will have another update shortly after noon.

I'm Here!!!

Hello world! I got here at 11:43pm, July 24th. My name is Ivy Aurora Meek. I weigh exactly 7 lbs and am 20 1/2 in long. My mommy, daddy and grandparents think I am adorable!
Here are some first pictures of me (my daddy forgot the cable for his phone, so the digital camera had to work. He apologizes for the poor quality):

No baby yet!

Well, the due date set by the doctor has come and gone, but I am still hanging out with mommy. I like it in here at the moment, thank you very much! What do doctor's know anyway? :) Mommy and Daddy think I will be born on Sunday or Monday. Well, we will see, won't we? I hope to meet you all soon. I know that my daddy and mommy are VERY anxious for me to be here. They keep telling me that they can't wait to hold me and kiss me. Well, back to practicing moving my arms and legs so mommy knows that I'm still here!

I will be here soon!

My mommy and daddy wanted everyone to know that they will email everyone to come to my page here once I am born. They will post my name, stats, and pictures here to announce my arrival. So please be watching your email in the coming days, as I could be born any day!
